Evra contraceptive patches and their contraindications

 What is Evra?

Evra is one of the methods used to prevent pregnancy and its scientific name is "ethinyl estradiol and norelgestramine", as it contains these two active substances by 6 mg of "norlgestromin" and 600 micrograms of "ethinyl estradiol". The safety and efficacy of Evra have been studied in women between the ages of 18 and 45 years.

Evra contraceptive patches are hormonal contraceptives. They are small, sticky, square-shaped patches that look like plastic bandages.

Evra contraceptive patch is placed on the skin, as it can be placed on the lower abdomen, back, or arm. Evra patches release hormones in the body gradually. Evra patches are very effective and easy to use, so women prefer using them more than taking birth control pills or using vaginal rings.

Evra uses

Evra contraceptive patches are just as effective as oral contraceptive pills, and weekly use of Evra patches on the skin instead of daily contraceptive pills may help women stick to contraceptive methods more appropriately and easier.

Evra patches contain active substances, i.e. two types of hormones, namely estrogen and progestogen. Oral contraceptives have been widely used for many years, and Evra contraceptive patches are very similar to oral contraceptives in formulation.

Evra works like the pill by changing the hormonal balance in the body to prevent ovulation, by altering the cervical mucus and by thinning the lining of the uterus.

It has been proven that Evra patches are effective in preventing pregnancy, and they were compared to combined oral contraceptives. These studies confirmed that it contains the same amounts of active substances in tablets or pills, including studies that compared it to drugs and pills that differ in the amount of active substances. Through these studies, it was found that some women Those who used contraceptive methods failed, and pregnancy occurred despite their use of contraceptive methods correctly, and some of the women who used contraceptive methods such as pills, drugs, and patches gained weight.
